Step 1: Meet the Eligibility Criteria

A You must be at least 16 years old at the time of enrolment. However, the license will be accorded at the age of 18 years or older.

 You must have completed your 10+2 education with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. In case, you don’t come from a science background, you would need to clear the above exams from the NIOS board.

 You must have a Class 2 medical certificate from a DGCA-approved medical examiner.

Step 2: Choose a good flying school

If you find yourself eligible (academically, age-wise, and medically), then you should enroll yourself in a good flying school.

 The flying schools should have single-engine aircraft, multi-engine aircraft, simulators, and proper facilities for conducting ground classes along with flying training..

Step 3: Enroll in a Pilot Training Course

Once you have chosen a flight training school and met the eligibility criteria, the next step is to enroll in a pilot training course.

 The course typically includes ground training, simulator training, and flight training (ask for training on multi-engine aircraft along with a single engine). It can take anywhere between 18 to 24 months to complete the course, depending on the type of course and your progress.

Step 4: Obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

To become a pilot in India, you need to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) from the DGCA.

 To obtain a CPL, you must have completed at least 200 hours of flight training (185 hours on single engines and 15 hours on multi-engines), including 100 hours of solo flying, and passed the written exam on ground subjects and the flight test conducted by the DGCA.
